Jeffrey Wix
Jeffrey Wix is an engineer with extensive experience on development of integrated ICT solutions for the building construction industry. He currently focuses on development and use of information development strategies for industry and government. He led development of the IFC 2x Model, and is a member of the buildingSMART Model Support Group. He also led work on defining the connection between building construction and GIS through the IFC for GIS project.
He has participated in various UK national projects on product libraries, e-Safety and public health. He was a member of the core team that developed the ISO 12006-3 standard on dictionaries for construction products and services and is the original author of the Information Delivery Manual (IDM) which specifies the delivery of project data for specific business processes.
In 2006, he received a recognition award from the US National Instute for Building Sciences for his contribution to the development of IFC and related technologies.
Thomas Liebich
Thomas is an architect specialising in the development of object modelling and knowledge based systems for building construction.
He is the current leader of the IAI Model Support Group specifying the IFC standard, developer of the ifcXML specification and technical advisor
for the German speaking IAI chapter.
He consults government organisations, construction companies and software houses on model based information integration.
He contributed to German national projects on intelligent client service systems and collaboration between building design,
building services design and structural analysis. Recent work includes e-Construction activities as contributor to the bcXML and cost scheduling integration with design packages.
Nicholas Nisbet
Nicholas Nisbet is an architect who studied at Cambridge and North London. he worked for EdCaad, the Edinburgh University research group that pioneered CAD in the housing design sector, Diamond Redfern Partnership and GMW Partnership where he innovated in the area of visualisation of architectural designs based on production information.
He leads work on software development in AEC3 working particularly with IFC applications based on model server databases, XML/XSL developments focussed on the XML Schema Development (XSD) standard and CAD implementations.
He leads work on XML development within buildingSMART and was a key contributor to the recently published BS1192:2007 standard for managing CAD/BIM information. He also developed the SMARTcodes method for marking up building regulations used in current US developments.
Janice Wix
Trained in trust and personal banking with Barclays Bank and experienced in the use of financial control systems with various
organizations, she manages the administration and financial control of Jeffrey Wix Consulting Ltd.
In addition to working with financial applications, she has also worked on the development of change order control systems
on a major hospital project, direct marketing database development and as a customer support specialist for roof tiles.
Paul Sitoh
Paul Sitoh is a graduate of Newcastle University in Mechanical Engineering and Information Systems and holds a masters degree from Durham University. He is an experienced system analyst and software engineer and has worked extensively in developing EXPRESS/SDAI based tools and end-user applications for the process and construction industries in the UK, the Nordic countries, China and Singapore. In addition, he has adapted and implemented STEP/EPISTLE data models for use in applications such as GIS, multi-language e-Payment systems, VoIP signal routing and web-based content management system. Paul is experienced in working with a range of system and information analysis methodologies including IDEF, UML, STEP, EPISTLE and IFC. His primary expertise is in implementing software systems on Unix and Windows using Java/J2EE, C++, XML and SQL and is familiar with database technologies including EXPRESS Data Manager, MySQL and Oracle. Paul is also fluent in Mandarin.
Matthias Weise
Matthias Weise is an engineer who has been engaged in the field of product modelling and data management since 1999. He has gained experience from his work as a research assistant at the University of Technology Dresden and was actively involved in the structural analysis domain extension of the IFC model. In his PhD he has developed a novel approach for the management of shared design data that enables a paradigm shift towards change-based documentation and evaluation of the design steps. His research is focused on model view definitions, cooperative design based on long transactions and version management of shared design data.
