A contract was let to Novasprint as main contractor to develop and implement automated code checking for building planning and building services.
The EPM IFC data repository and rule engine is used for data storage and rule checking with AEC3 provide data modelling and implementation support to the project.
Qualified practitioners (QP’s) submit data in IFC formatted files electronically .
It is stored in the data repository from where it can be called for checking against the rules for over 900 building code clauses.
QP’s or building control officers can initiate checks through a web browser on a clause, agency or entire basis.
Results of non compliance are reported back through the browser together with reasons for non-compliance.
Non compliant objects are highlighted in red in the browser window.
Additional comments can be added and these can include the granting of waivers.
